Sights in the region

The village of Gerbishte is located in the easternmost part of the Western Rhodopes, 5-10 km west of their border with the Eastern Rhodopes. It is located along the long smooth saddle of a ridge with a north-south direction, and perhaps the name Gerbishte is due to this relief form of the “back of the mountain”. The altitude at the mosque in the southern end of the village is about 910 m.

The Devil’s Bridge on the Arda River at 17 km.

The Devil’s Bridge is a medieval bridge over the Arda River. Located in a picturesque gorge about 10 kilometers northwest of the town of Ardino, not far from the village of Dyadovtsi.

Thracian sanctuary – Eagle Rocks 12 km.

They are located near Ardino. They can visit with the family, as the road is relatively comfortable – most of it is unpaved.

Museum BARUTCHIYNITSA in the city of Ardino

The only Barutchiinitsa preserved in its original form in the Balkans is located in the town of Ardino. It has been declared an immovable architectural and constructional cultural value.

The stone wedding near the town of Kardzhali

The figures represent a beautiful group of numerous stone pyramids, reminiscent of a wedding procession. They are diverse in shape and size, ranging in height from 0.5 to over 10 m.

Utrobata Cave near the town of Kardzhali

There is a carved altar at the bottom of the cave, and every day around noon a ray of sunlight enters the cave through a crack. According to the beliefs of the Thracians, this is the symbolic fertilization.

Ancient fortress Perperikon near Kardzhali.

The fortress – rock town of Perperek is located 15 km from the town of Kardzhali. A sanctuary was built on the hill during the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages.
